Tallahassee, FL- Republican leadership in the Florida legislature is trying to ignore gun rights again despite Governor DeSantis bringing Open Carry to the forefront of this legislative session! Governor DeSantis, on the Bob Rose show earlier this month said in regards to Open Carry, “ You may get that in this upcoming legislative session, so stay tuned in on that,”
Florida Gun Rights Director of Legislation Matt Mammoser said about the recent comments from Senate President Ben Albritton on open carry not being brought up this session, “ Gun owners in Florida are fed up with weak-kneed Republicans ignoring their constituents, kowtowing to the gun control lobby and anti-gun law enforcement bureaucrats to maintain the gun control status quo in the Sunshine State.”
When the Florida Legislature passed Constitutional Carry two years ago, they left out open carry, condemning the citizens of Florida to have the weakest Constitutional Carry law in the nation, leaving Florida on a list with only five states in the nation, and Washington, D.C., to have outright bans on open carry.
“Florida Guns Rights is dedicated to mobilizing the grassroots and ensuring the same thing that happened in 2023 isn’t repeated when weak-kneed establishment RINOs took the reins and delivered the bare minimum for gun owners so they could go into an election season pounding their chests as if they were pro-gun heroes,” concluded Mammoser.
Florida Gun Rights will work relentlessly to build pressure on lawmakers to restore gun rights and repeal every restriction to the right to keep and bear arms of all law-abiding Floridians on the books.
Florida Gun Rights is one of the fastest-growing “no compromise” pro-gun organizations in the Sunshine State. FLGR is the Florida affiliate of the National Association for Gun Rights, the nation’s largest “no compromise” pro-gun organization, with 4.5 million members nationwide.
