In a move that has ignited fierce debate among gun rights advocates, Florida Senate President Ben Albritton recently nominated State Senator Jim Boyd for Senate President.
When we at Florida Gun Rights learned of this nomination, we moved quickly to alert our members about the profound impact it could have on the future of gun rights in the Sunshine State.
See, when tragedy hit Parkland, and we needed strong leadership, Jim Boyd worked with radical gun-grabbing Democrats to bus in Gun Control Inc. protestors.
As a result, Senator Boyd was the driving factor behind the largest gun control law in Florida’s history.
This bill imposed “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation laws, created waiting periods, and banned 18-20 year olds from purchasing a firearm.
Just last March, Governor Ron DeSantis amplified these concerns over the legislation, calling for a full repeal of the law.
While the Tallahassee establishment pats themselves on the back for being a beacon of conservatism, their actions clearly show that Bloomberg and liberal gun grabbers are calling the shots.
With the interim committee weeks (a series of planning meetings with legislators where they set forth next year’s legislative priorities) approaching soon, gun owners must be on high alert for the fight ahead.
We’ve already seen this year what happens when legislators break their promises on pro-gun legislation; we can’t be fooled again.
Even while Senate leadership is signaling business as usual, we are seeing more anti-gun news from the courts.
As a current lawsuit moves forward against Florida’s ban on Open Carry, anti-gun Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun control group Everytown is now being quoted as a “legal expert” in Florida’s courts.
To recap, Florida’s potential next Senate President is on record voting for gun control…
…Senator Joe Gruters, who also voted for the same bill, is running the RNC…
…and Florida State Attorneys using Everytown as “ experts.”
Needless to say, Florida is far from being the Free State of Florida.
The appetite for gun control is evidently still alive and well.
It will take all gun-loving patriots to hold them accountable during this upcoming legislative session.
Florida Gun Rights will be fighting hard every day in Tallahassee in the upcoming months to repeal “Red Flag” gun confiscation and push Open Carry legalization across the finish line in the coming months.
We cannot do this alone. Donations are our lifeblood and what keep us fighting against Gun Control Inc.
Please consider a monthly recurring donation of $10 or just $25 to keep FLGR on the frontlines defending gun rights year-round.
