Fighting for Your Second Amendment Rights: Florida Gun Rights Takes on Tallahassee
As the election season heats up, the battle for our Second Amendment rights is at a critical juncture.
Last week, Florida Gun Rights took the fight straight to Tallahassee, challenging Representatives and Senators with a bold question:
“Do you really want to vote for gun control heading into election season?”
This question, sparked by concerns about potential restrictions on Open Carry following a recent court victory, caught lawmakers’ attention.
Florida Gun Rights is standing firm as the ultimate defender of our constitutional freedoms, pushing back against any attempts to infringe on our rights.
A Productive Week in Tallahassee
Our team has been hard at work in the state Capitol, meeting with legislators to sound the alarm on threats to Open Carry and to push for the repeal of dangerous “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation laws.
We’re actively seeking a bill sponsor to dismantle these unconstitutional measures and protect law-abiding gun owners.
“In some meetings, I saw legislators dodge questions about potential infringements on the recent Open Carry win, and others claimed ignorance,” said FLGR Executive Director Logan Edge.
One lawmaker admitted that several Republicans are feeling pressure from the Sheriffs Association to support anti-gun measures. However, he pledged to vote “NO” on any such nonsense, a commitment we’ll hold him to.
“We’ve been hearing that these ideas have been floated, meaning either legislators haven’t received their marching orders from leadership, or they weren’t being straight with us,” concluded Edge.
Building a Coalition to Protect Your Rights
Florida Gun Rights is leading the charge to forge an unshakable coalition of Representatives and Senators dedicated to stopping any talk of prohibitive zones, long gun bans, or holster mandates.
We’re also sharing our bill text to repeal “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation laws with trusted legislators. As one Senator powerfully stated, “It’s time to go on offense.”
This isn’t just talk, it’s a call to action. We’re mobilizing gun owners across Florida to send a clear message to Tallahassee: any legislator who supports gun control or fails to act will face serious consequences at the ballot box.
Leadership That Stands Firm
Despite some in Tallahassee wavering, leaders like Congressman Byron Donalds (currently campaigning for Governor), are standing tall.
Donalds has repeatedly highlighted his “proud” vote against the gun control measures passed after the Parkland shooting and condemned “Red Flag” laws as a direct attack on our liberties.
Governor Ron DeSantis is another vocal critic of these measures, blasting them as unconstitutional overreaches.
So why are some lawmakers in Tallahassee dragging their feet? If they claim to support DeSantis and Donalds but fail to back their bold stances with action, they’re betraying the very gun owners they claim to represent.
Your Support Fuels the Fight
Florida Gun Rights is charging full speed into the upcoming legislative session, but we can’t do it alone. We need your help to keep the pressure on.
FLGR will continue going to the Capitol meeting with offices and pushing for no sort of restriction on Open Carry, and work to gain a sponsor for the repeal of “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation.
