Florida gun owners have a significant opportunity in the 2026 legislative session to push for the repeal of key provisions tied to Florida’s “Red Flag” gun confiscation law passed in 2018 as part of the Parkland Gun Control bill.
The Repeal of “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation (HB 6029), sponsored by Representative Tyler Sirois (R), directly targets this by repealing the provisions in Florida Statute s. 790.401 related to the surrender of firearms pursuant to a risk protection order.
With Governor Ron DeSantis demanding the legislature pass “Red Flag” repeal and the bill being filed in Tallahassee this session, gun owners FINALLY have a real chance to repeal “Red Flag” gun confiscation.
Executive Director, Logan Edge, met with Representative Sirois this past week to discuss a path forward with HB 6029.
Rep. Sirois informed Logan on Wednesday that gun rights advocates have a tough battle ahead of us and will need the help of gun owners across the state to push HB 6029 through the legislature and to Governor DeSantis’ desk.
Gun Owners Must Mobilize
Pro-gun patriots still need to make their voices heard to help push this critical reform through committee and to the House Floor.
Even gaining a recorded vote is a massive step in the right direction, allowing gun owners across the state to know where their elected officials stand on repealing “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation before the August election.
There will be no empty campaign slogans about defending the 2nd Amendment if gun owners can put every legislator on notice by forcing a vote on repealing “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation.
But FLGR cannot build this pressure on the legislature without mass mobilization.
That’s why all gun owners across the state need to sign their petition to Repeal “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation and defend against any measures to restrict Open Carry if they have not already.
And pro-gun patriots can multiply their impact by sharing this petition with ALL of their pro-gun friends and family.
