Dear Patriot,
A Leon County Circuit Court judge dealt a crippling blow to the State’s firearm preemption law on Friday.
Judge Charles Dodson declared the enforcement provision of the law unconstitutional, effectively rendering much of this Second Amendment protection law toothless.
You see, the preemption law basically states that local governments cannot regulate firearms or ammunition so that all gun laws are uniform throughout the state
This was done in order to prevent confusion when gun owners are traveling across Florida.
The part of the law that was struck down allowed for local officials who violated the law to be personally fined up to $5000 or removed from office by the Governor.
Now, without a strong enforcement provision, local officials will not face any personal consequences when enacting local level gun control
The challenge to this law came in 2018 when local officials across the state realized they couldn’t pass gun control in their cities and counties.
In fact, 30 municipalities, 3 counties, and more than 70 elected officials joined together to challenge this law in an attempt to clear themselves of the consequences of passing gun control.
The part of the law that was overturned on Friday actively discouraged anti-gun politicians from violating the preemption law.
But now that a judge has struck down that part of the law, these anti-gun politicians are free to run rampant with their attempts to skirt the state’s preemption law while forcing taxpayers to fund their legal battles.
This could result in a web of varying gun laws across the state that will act as a way to trip up law-abiding gun owners as well as expensive legal battles for State and municipal taxpayers alike
To make matters worse, 27 mayors across the state have joined Michael Bloomberg’s “Mayors Against Guns” group where members pledge to fight for gun control.
All of this underscores the importance of the work Florida Gun Rights and our members do on a daily basis.
We work tirelessly to inform gun owners of the threats to their rights and how to stop those threats from becoming reality.
And the best way to fight back against this massive push for local gun control is to hold those local politicians accountable
That’s why I’ve included a list of all the cities who have publically joined with Michael Bloomberg in his crusade for gun control at the bottom of this email.
I hope you recognize the importance of the work being done here and do two things to help.
The first thing I need you to do is remain ever vigilant and regularly communicate with your elected officials to ensure that they are standing for the Second Amendment
Secondly, I need you to chip in $15 or $30 to help Florida Gun Rights continue to make it easy for gun owners to hold their politicians accountable with regular updates on where those politicians stand
Without the war chests of anti-gun billionaires funding our programs, we rely on the generosity of people like you who care about maintaining our freedoms for future generations.
So can I count on you to stand with Florida Gun Rights to fight back the assaults on our rights at the local level and around the state?
For Freedom,

Without anything to hold them accountable, local politicians can now enact a web of varying gun laws across the state that will act as a way to trip up law-abiding gun owners.
