DeSantis’s Administration continues to double down for Gun Rights

Over the past few weeks, Governor DeSantis and his administration have taken numerous strong stances for gun rights through their posts on X and his State of the State Address.

First, Governor DeSantis has repeatedly come out in favor of repealing the remnants of the Parkland gun control agenda. This includes “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation, the military-age gun ban, and repealing the ban on Open Carry.

This is the bold leadership from the Governor that Floridians have come to know and what gun owners have needed from an executive. However, the Florida legislature has proven time and time again that they need to be seriously pushed by the Governor to legislate like conservatives. It is a shame that the State legislature is ignoring the mandate voters gave them during the last election. Sadly, leadership in the Senate would rather post a graphic about Daylight savings than actually take up issues voters care about.

Just the other day, our new Attorney General, James Uthmeier, was on the Dana Loesch show and doubled down, declaring a new sheriff in town regarding firearms. Attorney General Ulthmeier discussed the recent 11th Circuit decision that upheld Florida’s Military-Age Gun Ban. He specifically cited that we must look at the law’s constitutionality from the founding generation. Many of the patriots who fought for our independence were men under 21. As militia members, they were often required and encouraged to carry arms. This should sound like music to every gun owner’s ears.

But wait, our Attorney General’s statement gets better. He also said he has instructed his office not to defend that law before the Supreme Court if it is appealed. Attorney General Uthmeier also discussed the unconstitutionality of Red Flag Gun Confiscation.

This is what strong leadership sounds like. Thanks to the relentless grassroots pressure from gun owners in Florida, these crucial issues have been pushed to the forefront of our state’s political discussion. Your advocacy is not just important; it’s integral to our cause, and it empowers us all to make a difference.

While it seems like every day we get more and more good news from the DeSantis Administration, the legislature is still refusing to follow authentic conservative leadership from the Governor and our Attorney General.

This is why Florida Gun Rights will continue highlighting the good, the bad, and the ugly happenings in Tallahassee. We will continue to double down and force the issue of gun rights. The momentum is shifting, and the legislature will not be able to continue to ignore the mandate gun owners sent them in the last election. We must remain determined and committed to the cause of pro-gun reform, or the political consequences will be severe. Let’s stay motivated and committed to this crucial cause.
