Grassroots Gun Owners Back Pro-gun Candidate Marshall Rawson Over Republican Establishment in Major Upset

Florida voters went to the polls in the primary elections to choose Republican candidates for the post-DeSantis era.

Florida Gun Rights worked tirelessly to put candidates on the record for gun owners, including in House District 10.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Brannan, a consistent roadblock for pro-gun legislation, is termed out of his seat in the district.

This past session, Brannan refused to hold or schedule a hearing to repeal “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation or the bill to repeal Florida’s bump stock and Forced Reset Trigger bans.

In 2023, he even threatened to pull the Constitutional Carry bill (HB 543) when gun owners insisted Open Carry rights be included in the legislation.

Following years of Chuck Brannan stonewalling pro-gun legislation and maneuvering against gun owners, Brannan’s son, Chase Brannan, threw his hat in the ring for House District 10, alongside Marshall Rawson.

With an open field, Florida Gun Rights worked to put both candidates on the record.

Marshall Rawson returned his FLGR Candidate Survey 100% pro-gun and vowed to support and sponsor pro-gun bills repealing “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation and the remaining gun control on Florida’s books if elected.

Despite multiple attempts, Chase Brannan never returned his survey.

FLGR’s Candidate Survey doesn’t just ask about specific Second Amendment issues affecting Floridians — it also asks whether a candidate is willing to stand up to leadership even if it means being punished.

Rawson didn’t just pledge to file pro-gun legislation and vote correctly. He promised to challenge the anti-gun Republican establishment.

As the son of a powerful chairman in Tallahassee, Chase Brannan raised significant money and collected numerous endorsements from the anti-gun political establishment.

Marshall, by contrast, raised strong support almost entirely from individual donors and the grassroots. His pledge to fight for the Second Amendment also earned him the National Association for Gun Rights PAC endorsement.

This race was no longer just about gun rights. It became a clear repudiation of House leadership, their failure to restore Second Amendment rights, and a victory for the conservative grassroots.

Rawson overcame hundreds of thousands of dollars to soundly defeat Chase Brannan, 54.8% to 45.2%, proving that the pro-gun grassroots can deliver real change and build momentum for future legislative victories.

Marshall Rawson’s success shows a clear appetite from gun owners for lawmakers willing to buck the status quo and fight for Floridians’ right to keep and bear arms.

Florida Gun Rights will continue working to expose anti-gun candidates and lawmakers through the November election.
