Florida voters have narrowed the field, setting up a general election battle between Republican Congressman Byron Donalds and Democrat David Jolly for Governor.
For Florida gun owners, the race presents a major contrast about the future of the Second Amendment in the Sunshine State.
David Jolly, a former Republican Congressman who switched parties and is now running as a Democrat, has made his position on gun control clear.
Jolly has publicly called for Florida to ban so-called “Assault Weapons,” impose Universal Background Checks, require expensive liability insurance for gun owners, preserve and expand Florida’s “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation law, and more!
Those positions would put some of the most aggressive gun control proposals in the country directly on the Governor’s agenda.
Jolly has also argued that Florida’s gun laws are too lax despite the restrictions Florida gun owners already face when exercising their constitutional rights.
For gun owners, there is little ambiguity about the direction a Jolly administration could take.
Congressman Byron Donalds’ Stance on the Second Amendment
Congressman Byron Donalds has a pro-gun voting record and consistently opposed gun control during his time in Washington, D.C.
Before that, Donalds stood against anti-gun Republican leadership in Tallahassee by opposing the massive Parkland Gun Control Package (SB 7026) that was rammed into law in 2018.
He is also on the record opposing Florida’s “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation law, so-called “Assault Weapons” Bans, Universal Background Checks, and more gun control supported by his opponent, David Jolly.
Donalds has also openly opposed the purchase restrictions on 18 to 20-year-olds, as well as the bump stock and Forced Reset Trigger bans that FLGR is working tirelessly to repeal.
With a pro-gun record up to this point, it’s clear which candidate will fight for gun owners, and which will work with the Gun Control Lobby to eliminate Floridians’ right to keep and bear arms.
General Election on Tuesday, November 3
The stakes in this election extend far beyond the candidates for Governor.
Florida Gun Rights will be working throughout the 2026 election to expose candidates in both parties for their gun-grabbing actions, anti-gun records, and campaign promises.
That means placing hard-hitting social media ads, sending text messages, deploying emails, mailing gun owners, and possibly even buying billboard and video ads to expose anti-gun candidates ahead of November.
However, these programs are expensive, and FLGR is entirely dependent upon pro-gun patriots to fund this election plan.
Stay tuned for more election updates, and chip in below to help fuel FLGR’s battle plan.
